Synonyms

• Lorryia, synonymy according to Baker (1965) and from subsequent combinations used by Baker (1968a)
• Paralorryia, partim from the subsequent combination used by Baker (1968b)

Notes

• The genus Retetydeus was erected by Thor (1931) with Retetydeus catenulatus as type species.
• Three species were listed by Thor (1933: 51): R. catenulatus, R. mammillaris and R. viviparus.
• The 4th and 5th species, boycei and doddsi , were added by Baker (1944).
• The genus Retetydeus was retained by Baker & Wharton (1952: 192), with catenulatus as type species.
• The genus was synonymized with Lorryia by Baker (1965: 105).
• Species included in Retetydeus were transferred to the genera Lorryia and Paralorryia by Baker (1968a & b) through subsequent combinations. The 5 species concerned were boycei (Baker, 1968a : 1004), catenulata/us (Baker, 1968a : 1001), doddsi (Baker, 1968b : 1102), mammillaris (Baker, 1968a: 995) and vivipara/us (Baker, 1968a : 991).
• The type species, catenulata/us, is included in the genus Brachytydeus by Silva et al. (2016: 12).
• Accordingly, the genus Retetydeus is not listed by Silva et al. (2016).
