Lectotype: BMNH R.1111, skull and skeleton. [designated by Opinion 1788 (1994: 288)]

Type locality and horizon: Charmouth, West Dorset, England, United Kingdon; lower cliff face in a Sinemurian marine mudstone in the Charmouth Mudstone Formation.

Placed on the Official List of Specific Names in Zoology (Opinion 1788).
