editStegonotus australis (Günther, 1872): 21. BHL
- Holotype: BMNH 1946.1.14.93 (formerly BMNH 68.6.16.3), adult ♂, "Mr Higgins", possibly Edmund Thomas Higgins (ca. 1816–1891), a London based natural history and geological specimen dealer who purchased the London Natural History Agency from entomologist and natural history dealer Samuel Stevens (1817–1899). Both men sold specimens to the BMNH.
- Type locality: “Cape York" Queensland, Australia (without precise locality).
