Discussion
editI already used the process to add about 20,000 articles and to modify and improve another 3,000 pages, while logged as the user Mariusm, so it's safe to say I'm familiar with the AWB process and can manipulate it smoothly enough. I wish to switch to a bot after some concerns were raised of AWB being discordant with the bot policy and also to avoid flooding the Recent changes buffer. Mariusm (talk) 10:22, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
- Until Wikispecies has set up its own AutoWikiBrowser policy I would urge any and all bots to abide with the current bot policy and work in accordance with its requirements. It is possible that a future AWB policy may have a set of rules very different to the current bot policy – and perhaps even state that the use of AWB is not considered a bot at all – but as of this writing the present bot policy is all we've got. That being said, with the exception of editing speed I have nothing against the previous work of the MariusBot "beta version" run by Mariusm's normal user account, and the speed limits may well be different in a future AWB policy. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk) 22:29, 20 May 2017 (UTC), 22:29, 20 May 2017 (UTC).

- Comment If no one has objections to the quality of the edits already performed, I'm inclined to give speedy approval to this rather than dragging it out. OhanaUnitedTalk page 18:30, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
- Support. also agree with @OhanaUnited: above and recommend speedy approval, I would also say that a trial is not necessary since we have already seen what this will do, it has already been discussed, and those AWB accounts approved on EN-WP required no trial due to the recognised differences between AWB and a true Bot. @Thiotrix: if you feel you need this too please make a similar application (referring to your comment on the Admin page). - Oppose. Marsum's block, for operating an unauthorised bot, was recently lifted on the condition that he would adhere to our bot policy, which says
"Bots' editing speed should be regulated in some way; subject to approval, bots doing non-urgent tasks may edit approximately once every ten seconds, while bots doing more urgent tasks may edit approximately once every four seconds."
Fifty edits per minute is way over this. No justification for exceeding this is offered; and this is not an urgent task, so the lower limit applies. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 18:02, 19 May 2017 (UTC)- @Pigsonthewing: The criteria you mention were crafted for and adopted from the enWP, where the usual editing rate is 70-100 EPM plus 30-60 EPM bot edits. This is hardly applicable to WS. I applied for the current policy modification. Mariusm (talk) 05:53, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- The criteria quoted are part of the bot policy on this wiki; a policy to which you are required to adhere. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 09:19, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
