The name of this taxon appears to be invalid under the relevant nomenclatural code, as it is a redundant synonym of Tydeus zempoalensis.

Tydeus kochi (Tydeus popocatepetlensis is a j. synonym of Tydeus kochi according to Kaźmierski (1998: 358).

Listed as "ancient species" by Kaźmierski (1998: 357-8).
As Tydeus popocatepetlensis is junior synonym of Tydeus zempoalensis, wich is, in his turn, a junior synonym of Tydeus kochi, it turns out that Tydeus popocatepetlensis is also a junior synonym of Tydeus kochi. The second synonymy recalled by Kaźmierski (1998: 358) is rejected by André (2005: 981).
