The name of this taxon appears to be invalid under the relevant nomenclatural code, as it is a redundant synonym of Brachytydeus.

Raphitydeus Thor, 1933

Thor (1933: 54) divided the genus Lorryia into two subgenera Raphitydeus and Lorryia sensu stricto.
This division was not accepted by Baker (1944: 215) and is recalled in Baker (1968: 987).
Raphitydeus was synonymized with Lorryia by Baker (1965: 105).
Raphitydeus was again synonymized with Brachytydeus by André (2005: 995). This synonymization is reported by Silva et al. (2016: 4).
