The name of this taxon appears to be invalid under the relevant nomenclatural code, as it is a redundant synonym of Tydeus.

Orthotydeus André, 1980

The genus Orthotydeus was erected by André (1980: 127–128) who cited three species: O. goetzi, O. lindquisti and O. munsteri (already the type species of Afrotydeus designated by Baker (1970: 165).
It was synonymized with Tydeus by André (2005: 996)
