Moenkhausia venerei Petrolli, Azevedo-Santos & Benine et al., 2016

Type locality: Brazil, Barra do Garças, Mato Grosso, rio Araguaia, Córrego Grande. 15°44” S, 52°5’W.

Etymology: The specific epithet venerei is in honor of Dr. Paulo César Venere, collector of this species and for his contributions to our knowledge of the Rio Araguaia ichthyofauna.
