Vernacular names edit

Currently the ==Vernacular names== link in the edit tools is actually two buttons. This will make them one.

Change:

<charinsert>==Vernacular names==</charinsert>

to

<charinsert>==Vernacular names==</charinsert>

The will not appear when editing. It will be an actual space that's inserted. Thanks. Rocket000 02:47, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

And if anyone ever sees this, please fix the #REDIRECT[[]] button too. Rocket000 22:19, 15 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Done. :) Rocket000 23:47, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

What? Me talking to myself? Rocket000 12:57, 27 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
A habit we also have, but luckily we never interrupt each other, during those mono-dialogues. Dan Koehl (talk) 23:17, 9 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Tags translate and languages edit

Hello, I propose adding all'Edittools the tags: <translate> </translate> and <languages /> these two tags would be very useful the work of us administrators of the translations and of all those who prepare the translations would be facilitated. --Samuele2002 (talk) 22:51, 11 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

 Resolved. @Kaganer: Please excuse the very late reply, but I didn't see your request until just a few minutes ago. It's all taken care of now though. Regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 20:58, 26 November 2017 (UTC).Reply

Please note that the community has had a poll about the BASEPAGE magic word, and as a result we should never use {{BASEPAGENAME}}. It is used by some automated server functions and bots, but it should never be used by us human editors. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 03:35, 20 September 2018 (UTC).Reply

Vřelé díky za částečnou implementaci. Přimlouval bych se ještě za začlenění šablony/Thanks for partial implementation. I would still favor the inclusion of the template {{VN|}}
hnedle za nadpis/right behind the title =={{int:Vernacular names}}==(Template:Vernacular names) Obě pomůcky by mohly být nakonec i spřaženy, protože pokud nově vkládám nadpis sekce Vernacular names, je velmi pravděpodobné, ba téměř jisté, že vložím i výše zmíněnou šablonu. Ponechám na zralé úvaze. Není to nic na čem bych trval./Both utilities could eventually be coupled, because if I re-insert the title 'Vernacular names' , it is very likely, or almost certain, to put the above mentioned template. I leave for a ripe consideration. It's nothing that I would insist on.--Rosičák (talk) 02:38, 26 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
 1. As you have already seen, I've added the {{VN}} template as well. I simply forgot it the last time, but it is there now. :-)
 2. I agree that combining the =={{int:Vernacular names}}== code snippet with the {{VN}} template would be a good thing, but in order to follow wiki praxis it should be done without also using the
tag, which I think is difficult without code that is too long to be practical in the MediaWiki:Edittools panel.
Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 13:56, 26 September 2018 (UTC).Reply
OK, nemám s tím problém. Díky./OK, I have no problem. Thanks.--Rosičák (talk) 16:39, 26 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
An easy way to use the welcome greeting, {{Welcome}} would eventually make users greet newcomers more often? Dan Koehl (talk) 23:21, 9 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Dan Koehl:Statistically, probably yes! We will not try it:). But of course, these things are definitely missing. {{int:}}

Change tvar edit

{{Editprotected}}

Hello, can you please change <charinsert><tvar|>+</></charinsert> to <charinsert><nowiki>+</charinsert> </nowiki> since this is the new markup for translation variables? The edittols on other projects have already been changed ([1]) --Ameisenigel (talk) 10:00, 22 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Suggested edit to "int:" edit

{{Editprotected}}

The following line:

<charinsert><nowiki>{{int:}}</nowiki></charinsert>

should be changed to:

<charinsert><nowiki>{{int:+}}</nowiki></charinsert>

I believe the "+" is where text that is selected will be inserted, if I understand the syntax of Edittools correctly (I've been unable to locate what page on any MediaWiki project explains this so I've had to guess).

Tvar syntax edit

{{Editprotected}}

@Tommy Kronkvist, Please replace:
<charinsert><tvar|>+</></charinsert>
to
<charinsert><tvar name="">+</tvar></charinsert>
</nowiki>

(new syntax; see code for replace in the edit mode). Kaganer (talk) 17:59, 28 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Kaganer: Including the </nowiki> at the end? Don't you simply mean <charinsert><tvar name="">+</tvar></charinsert>, without </nowiki>? Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 22:38, 29 November 2022 (UTC).Reply
Sure! "nowiki" is for correct view in this page, only! Kaganer (talk) 18:27, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please replace < to & lt; (without space between & and lt;); see correct code in the "edit source" for this comment. Kaganer (talk) 23:54, 2 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Kaganer: That's a link to exactly the same text as you are reading right now... I suppose you mean this edit, made by you at 17:59, 28 November 2022 (UTC)? The actual code for that particular edit can be seen at the bottom of the "edit source" field in this page.
Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 12:39, 4 December 2022 (UTC).Reply

Yes. But you made edit with not these same code;) Not exactly ;)
Now just replace < to & lt; (without space), as in the another strings above. Kaganer (talk) 20:59, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Kaganer: Resolved. At least I think so…
We should have used <syntaxhighlight> instead, since < nowiki>, < pre> and {{code}} will not exclude all HTML tags and/or wiki code strings. I often forget it, but it is a lot easier to simply write "<syntaxhighlight> the code </syntaxhighlight>" With your code example that would have looked like this:
<charinsert><tvar name="">+</tvar></charinsert>
which I think is what you wanted? And without < nowiki> or < br> etc. Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 19:25, 5 December 2022 (UTC).Reply
Note: To be 100% correct the proper use is <syntaxhighlight lang="html+handlebars"> which would look like this:
<charinsert><tvar name="">+</tvar></charinsert>
however I don't think it would have mattered much in this case. Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 19:44, 5 December 2022 (UTC).Reply
Yes. I'm also forgot this. Finally, is needs add "nowiki" tags into "charinset" - otherwise, the insertable code is broken by a space between "tvar" and "name":
<charinsert><nowiki><tvar name="">+</tvar></nowiki></charinsert>
Kaganer (talk) 12:56, 6 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes of course Kaganer, you're right. I've now added the <n0wiki> tags. The whole page is only made up of 62 lines of simple script language so normally I should have seen this myself. But sometimes we all go "code blind", so thanks for your note. :-) Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 19:30, 6 December 2022 (UTC).Reply
Great! Finally, we was doing this ;) Kaganer (talk) 21:09, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
