Welcome to Wikispecies! edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at the Wikimedia Commons.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! -- Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:41, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Request for Admin edit

Hello Kaganer. The poll regarding your request for acquiring Administrator user rights is now closed. Unfortunately your request did not get a majority of the votes, and was therefore denied. Please see this link for an overview of the poll and the discussions involved.

Please note that the poll for Translation Administrator user rights is still going on for about a day more, and can be found here. Best regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 10:35, 24 September 2017 (UTC).Reply

Translation of user group pages edit

Hi Kaganer! I've made some changes to the paragraph layouts of the Wikispecies:Administrators, Wikispecies:Bureaucrats and Wikispecies:Translation administrators pages. For instance it seemed illogical that the "past requests" sections were listed prior to the "current requests" sections. In other words, the "past" should be listed after "now", right? :-)

Unfortunately some of the translation coding got lost in the process... Since you're a lot better suited for it than I, could you please have a look at the necessary translation codes, and update the pages accordingly?
–Thanks beforehand! Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 08:01, 22 October 2017 (UTC).Reply

Tommy Kronkvist -   Done. --Kaganer (talk) 18:10, 22 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Request for Admin, take two edit

Hello Paul. Thanks a lot for your many welcome contributions to Wikispecies. I think you would be a very well seen contributor to Wikispecies as an administrator, especially with your well documented Wikimedia experience in regards to for example localization, MediaWiki tools and Modules. If you feel up to it I will be happy to nominate you at the Wikispecies:Administrators#Requests for adminship, but only if you want to of course! I know that your earlier request didn't go through but Wikispecies (and Wikimedia) has evolved since then, especially when it comes to things related to translations, Wikimedia modules, MediaWiki software, and such. Please answer here, and I can carry on with the necessary details after that. Best regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 20:35, 14 December 2022 (UTC).Reply

@Tommy Kronkvist, Thanks, i agree ;) Kaganer (talk) 19:09, 15 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I have now nominated you for adminship, but you need to officially accept the nomination before the poll can be started. Please do that as quickly as possible, here: Wikispecies:Administrators/Kaganer (talk • contribs • block log • all projects). I guess you already know the procedure, otherwise feel free to use any of the examples at Wikispecies:Administrators/Archive 4 on how to accept a nomination. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 12:53, 16 December 2022 (UTC).Reply

De-adminship warning edit

Dear Kaganer. I am writing to inform you that you are in danger of losing your adminship on Wikispecies because of inactivity.

If you want to keep your adminship, you need both to sign at Wikispecies:Administrators/Inactivity Section within 30 days of today's date, and also to make at least five further admin actions in the following six months. Anyone who does not do so will automatically lose administrator rights.

You can read the de-admin policy at Wikispecies:Administrators/Admin Review.

Thank you.

Removal of Admin Tools edit

Hi Kaganer, as per the discussion on the Admin Review your admin rights have been removed. Under admin review this is not a penalty just a safety protocol with respect to advanced tools. If you wish to and believe you can dedicate time to this role again in the future you are welcome to do an RfA to re-acquire these rights. Thank you for your time, effort and service to wikispecies.
