Lasiotydaeus Berlese 1908

Type species: Lasiotydaeus glycyphaginus, type species by original designation [Berlese (1908: 15)]

Genus, first monospecific, described by Berlese (1908: 15).
It was divided in 2 subgenera by Berlese (1910: 211), the nominal subgenus with 2 species (L. glycyphaginus and L. tyroglyphinus) and Melanotydaeus with 5 species (L. (M.) mammillaris, L. (M.) humeralis, , L. (M.) simplex, L. (M.) raphignathoides and L. (M.) styliger).
The genus was synonymized (with a question mark) by Baker & Wharton (1952: 191).
According to Baker (1965: 102), the synonymisation must "be considered to be in error". The genus —monosubgeneric this time— was restored but its redescription was based on a Californian species (Lasiotydaeus krantzi) not congeneric with the Italian type species.
Baker (1965: 99, footnote) added "The type is in such poor condition [...] and this type of structure may be an artefact".
Baker (1965: 102) concluded that "it is impossible to know what the genus actually is".
