Name

Lasiotydaeus humeralis Berlese, 1910

• Type locality: in mosses, near Palermo, Sicily (Italy).
• Holotype: Berlese collection (Stazione di Entomologia Agraria, Firenze)

Synonyms

• Lasiotydaeus (Melanotydaeus) humeralis, original combination
• Melanotydaeus humeralis, subsequent combination advanced by Thor (1933: 49) and used by Baker (1965: 103) and Kaźmierski (1998: 357)
• Lorryia humeralis, subsequent combination used by Bernini et al. (1995: 37)

Notes

• Type species of the genus Melanotydaeus.
• "The type, in the Berlese collection, is in extremely poor condition, and it is impossible to know what the genus actually is" (Baker, 1965: 102).
• In 1965, it was"the only known species in the genus" (Baker, 1965: 103).
• All the other tydeids described before by Baker "form a small group within the genus Tydeus" (Baker, 1965: 102).
• "Ancient" species according to Kaźmierski (1998: 357)
• Species not listed by Silva et al. (2016)
