Centromochlus (Balroglanis) macracanthus Soares-Porto, 2000

  • Holotype: MZUSP 30620.
  • Paratypes: INPA 6565 (1); MCP 21789 (2); MNRJ 18242 (2); MZUSP 52924 (6), 30605 (4); CAS-SU 58869-71 (2, 2, 11).

Type locality: São Pedro, Río Negro, Amazonas, Brazil.

Etymology: macro-, long; acanthus, thorn or spine, referring to elongate dorsal-fin spine, 28-35% of SL (although “etymology” section indicates pectoral-fin spine, presumably in error since dorsal spine is a diagnostic character of the species). The ETYFish Project
