- Holotype: SMF 50337, adult ♂, collected on 30 January 1955.
- Type locality: “oberhald Pariakoto, 1600 m, H. östlich Yautan”, Department of Ancash, Peru.
- Etymology: koepckeorum is in genitive plural form, honoring German-born Peruvian zoologists Hans-Wilhelm Koepcke and Maria Koepcke, husband and wife.
