- Holotype: MSNM V2890a/b, part and counterpart of a well preserved nearly complete articulated skeleton.
- Paratypes: NHMUK OR 37227 (partially complete articulated skeleton in a single plate); MSNM V235 (nearly complete articulated skeleton in a single plate); MCSNV IG.VR.24388 (partially complete articulated skeleton in a single plate), IG.VR.132573/132574 (part and counterpart of a partially complete articulated skeleton), IG.VR.81999/82000 (part and counterpart of a partially complete articulated skeleton), IG.VR.82193/82194 (part and counterpart of a partially complete articulated skeleton).
- Type locality: Monte Bolca locality, Pesciara quarry site.
- Type horizon: Late Ypresian, middle Cuisian, early Eocene, SBZ 11, Alveolina dainelli Zone (see Papazzoni and Trevisani 2006).
Etymology: In reference to the Monte Bolca locality.
