- Holotype: LSUMZ 15683, adult ♀, skin and skull, collected by J.P. O’Neill on 14 July 1970.
- Type locality: “Huanhuachayo (12°44'S, 73°47'W). ca. 1,660 meters, Departamento de Ayacucho, Perú”.
- Paratypes (4): AMNH 219138, adult ♀, body in alcohol with skull removed, collected by J.W. Terborgh and J.S. Weske between 19-22 August 1968, at the type locality; AMNH 219171, 219172 and 219173, adult ♂, body in alcohol with skull removed, collected by J.W. Terborgh and J.S. Weske on 14 July 1970, at the type locality.
