Apterichtus moseri (Jordan & Snyder, 1901)

  • Holotype (unique): USNM 49729 [not 49728] (poor condition, 3 pieces).

Type locality: Suruga Bay, off Namazu, Japan, Albatross station 3700, depth 63 [not 100] fathoms.

Etymology: in honor of Jefferson Franklin Moser (1848-1934), U.S. Navy, for his “valued services to ichthyology” as commander of the U.S. Fish Commission steamer Albatross, which collected type, (from The ETYFish Project).
