  • Type locality: nasal cavity of Scotornis tossii welwitsclii Boc. (nightjar), Mohero near Butare [formerly Astrida] (Rwanda)

  • Speleognathopsis benoiti was formally described by Fain (1956: 29–31) after a first citation in Fain (1955: 696; nomen nudum).
  • Holotype examined and species redescribed by Skoracki et al. (2018: 417-419).
