- Type locality: Peru. Madre de Dios: Rio Manu, Pakitza (11°56.6'S, 71°16.9'W; 250 m).
- Etymology: The species epithet, rostra, is the Latin word for beak and refers to the shape of the beak-like epandrium as viewed in lateral view.
