Type locality: Zhuhai Fish Market, Guangdong, China.

Etymology: The species is named after Prof. Liu J.-S. family, to recognize Prof. Liu Rui-Yu, the former director of the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, for his outstanding contributions to the studies of marine biodiversity in China.
