- Holotype: AMNH 47874, adult ♂, collected by Arthur Vernay, Herbert Lang and Rudyerd Boulton on 17 May 1925.
- Type locality: “Hanha, Benguela Province, Angola” restricted to “Hanha do Norte (12°14′42″S, 13°42′27″E), approximately 20 km northeast of Lobito, Benguela Province, Angola” by Branch et al. (2017: 164).
