Ochmacanthus Eigenmann, 1912

• Type species: Ochmacanthus flabelliferus Eigenmann, 1912

Etymology: from ochma (= hold) and acanthus (= spine), presumably referring to “claw-like erectile” opercular and preopercular spines on O. flabilliferus. (From The ETYFish project)
