- Holotype: BMNH 53.218, adult ♂, body in alcohol with skull extracted, collected by F. Shaw Mayer on 28 January 1951.
- Type locality: “Welya, west of Hagen Range, central highlands, North-East New Guinea [=Papua New Guinea], 7000 ft [=2,134 m]”.
Native distribution areas
