Type locality: Brazil, Goiás State, São Domingos, Rio da Lapa, a tributary to Rio São Domingos, itself a tributary to Rio Paranã, upper Rio Tocantins basin, near the entrance of Lapa Terra Ronca, Terra Ronca State Park, 13°43'09"S, 46°21'17"W. [1]
Etymology: The specific name eleonorae is honoring Brazilian biospeleologist Eleonora Trajano and is in recognition to her key contributions to the knowledge of the diversity of the Brazilian troglobitic ichthyofauna, including the ichthyofauna of the karst area of São Domingos.
