Nannoplecostomus Ribeiro, Lima & Pereira, 2012

Etymology: From the Greek nannos (= dwarf), and plecostomus, the former generic name of the species currently included in the well-known Hypostominae genus Hypostomus, in allusion to the small adult size of the type-species.
