Type locality: Michaelmas Cay, Great Barrier Reef, off Cairns, Queensland, Australia.

Remark: Synonym of Scolecenchelys australis (Macleay, 1881) acc. to McCosker et al., 2006 - Valid acc. to Hibino & Kimura, 2015.
