  • Holotype: CU 87040.
  • Paratypes: CU 80504 (3).

Type locality: Ngomo creek, where it crosses Oyem-Minvoul road, 1°41'30.0"N, 11°39'18.9"E [1], Woleu-Ntem Province, Gabon.

Etymology: The specific name is from the Latin hirsutus (= hairy), in reference to the long tubercels on the dorsal and lateral surfaces of the head, which gives the species a somewhat hairy appearance of the head.
