The species merops is cited (nomen nudum) by Fain (1955: 692, 694 [key]) and Fain (1956a: 692).
The formal description is given by Fain (1956b: 30–31).
The species is not cited in his revision of the genus Boydaia (Fain, 1971).
Holotype examined and species redescribed by Skoracki et al. (2018: 405-406).
