Melanophidium punctatum Beddome, 1871: 401

  • Lectotype: BMNH 1946.1.4.37 (former 72.1.2.6), adult ♂, collected by R.H. Beddome between 1857–1882. [designated by Gower et al. (2016: 490)]
  • Type locality: “Travancore... in the Muti-kuli vayal, a little valley on the Asamboo range (4,500 feet elevation)” and “Peermede”, restricted by lectotype designation to “Agasthyamalai hills ("Mutikuli Vayal" valley at "4,500 feet")” by Gower et al. (2016: 490).
  • Paralectotypes: (n=3): BMNH 1946.1.15.48–49 (former 74.4.29.121–22), collected at “Peermede” by R.H. Beddome between 1857–1882 and MNHN-RA-1895.110.
