Macropharyngodon marisrubri Randall, 1978

  • Holotype: BPBM 13404.
  • Paratypes: BPBM 13387 (2); CAS 34699 (1); HUJ 5992 (1), 7224 (2); USNM 215268-71 (1, 2, 1, 1).

Type locality: Taba, south of Eilat, Egypt, northwestern coast of Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea, 12 m depth.

Etymology: The specific name marisrubri from the Latin maris (= sea), and ruber (= red), was given in reference to its distribution, the Red Sea.
