Synonymy

edit

NOTE: As there is no such thing as "page priority" under the ICZN, it is unclear which of the two preceding names has nomenclatural precedence if they are considered synonymous; under ICZN Art. 24.2, a First Reviser act would be required to determine which name has priority, and it is unclear whether any such act has ever been published. Part of the confusion appears to be that numerous authors have incorrectly attributed the authorship of Paropsina to Weise, and therefore junior to Gonioctenina, but this is incorrect; the two names were published simultaneously. Note also that according to Bouchard et al., the correct spelling is "Paropseina", though this may also require confirmation under the ICZN.
