Please can you update Cassia angustifolia correctly?

Argemone subfusiformis

edit

I see that you have used this image for Argemone subfusiformis, is this correct? The name on Wikipecia Commons is A. mexicana and maybe need to be corrected there. Epibase 14:46, 7 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Template:Taxa authored 2

edit

Hello Penarc, please do not remove Template:Taxa authored 2 from author pages and insert russian text. Wikispecies is a multilingual wiki! Please edit the Template:Taxa authored 2 instead, and add the russian translation there. Kind regards, --Thiotrix (talk) 15:08, 5 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Author pages

Layout of taxon pages

edit

Hello. See my edits on Sophora flavescens var. kronei and also read the Help Section for how we like to set out taxon pages. There are some variations, but hope this helps. Best Regards Andyboorman (talk) 16:06, 12 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you and some advice

edit

I would like to thank you for your request on @Thiotrix:'s [Sarcocornia Talk Page]. It is both courteous and sensible to check with the primary editor who may also be a resident expert before making controversial edits.

Where do I get my starting information from for taxon pages in botany? IPNI is the main reserve of publication of a name and needs to be consulted for all families, genera and species. It also may have links to the protologue and other useful data. WCSP, Hassler and Brassibase are rapid updating secondary sources based out of universities and botanic gardens. They are some 99.5% correct according to the widest consensus and correctable via email. The Plant List is now too out of date to be used, as it has not been updated since 2013. It has been superseded by Plants of the World Online, but this site is still work in progress and contains some strange data. Naturally, scientific papers are a gold mine, but printed Flora and Books are at least three years out of date prior to publication. Salicornia andina shows a great range and is an exemplar, in my opinion, but personally I would now get rid of the Plant List as superfluous. See Coffea as a slightly complex example of a work in progress that uses WCSP and Takhtajaniella as a simple uncontroversial example of a page that uses Brassibase. Finally all secondary sources need cross checking! Please feel free to ask questions on my talk page and keep reading the Help Pages. Best Regards. Page layout

edit

Best regards and good luck Andyboorman (talk) 20:42, 17 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Help Section

Why do persist in not reading the Help Section and looking at and learning from other more experience editors? You are just making a lot of work for others. Andyboorman (talk) 19:51, 24 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Non standard formats, stubs and Franz Xaver

Please look at this page by @Franz Xaver: compare it with your page. Talk to Franz he is a native Spanish speaker as well. Your edits are well meaning, but.... Regards Andyboorman (talk) 14:46, 7 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Epithet alessandrii or alessandri

edit

Fuscospora alessandri se llama incorrectamente. El epíteto correcto es alessandrii como honorífico para Alessandri y por lo tanto debe tener una doble i. No importa lo que diga la publicación original u otras fuentes, consulte basionym in IPNI and the code Art. 60 here. Debe eliminar su página de taxón y crear una nueva página con la ortografía correcta. Te sugiero que te limites a los taxones fáciles hasta que comprendas bien lo que se requiere en WS. Disculpas por mi español. Atentamente. Andyboorman (talk) 10:02, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sandbox

edit

Please use the sandbox for your experiments until you understand what is required here. There are enough poor pages from the past without creating new ones. Centaurea pseudoleucolepis is not good and you keep making the same mistakes over and over, please learn! Andyboorman (talk) 10:10, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Italics etc.

edit

All botanical names must be in italics - Coryphantha elephantidens and also spelt in full, so C. elephantidens is incorrect. Ideally under the Name section the name should be the full scientific name which is Coryphantha elephantidens (Lem.) Lem., Cactées 35. (1868). There are three accepted subgenera including the autonym and a number of synonyms to be added. Regards Andyboorman (talk) 19:23, 10 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Check this page for a simple taxon. Phialanthus. Basic, but correct and not a stub. Andyboorman (talk) 20:03, 10 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

¡Por favor una súplica!

edit

See Nassella psittacorum.

Sibara mendocina. ¿No es tan difícil seguramente? Andyboorman (talk) 09:54, 13 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Italics

edit

All Latin names are in italics even in a list of synonyms! You are forgetting to do this fairly regularly. However, you seem to learning OK. But see Persicaria mitis for a few corrections, but do not forget the other 12 synonyms - see Hassler (2019) in the references. Andyboorman (talk) 18:39, 20 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Format

edit

You have been here for 10 years or more and your formats are still not anywhere near consensus. In addition, you need to make taxon pages for currently accepted combinations using a range of accepted secondary and primary sources (Polygonum conspicuum). The Plant List is not now recommended, by the way. I would recommended you stop making pages until you have learnt from the Help Pages. Andyboorman (talk) 07:35, 25 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Non consensual format

edit

Hi. You still continue to produce pages that do not follow WS guidelines. Why is this? Andyboorman (talk) 20:35, 24 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please Stop

edit

Do not keep making taxon pages like this Hilliella shuangpaiensis. They do not follow WS format and indeed this taxon could be a synonym of Yinshania rupicola subsp. shuangpaiensis. It means somebody has to follow your work re-editing and correcting and it could be seen as a form of vandalism. I have politely before. Look through the Help Sections and follow the praxis.
