Mário e Dário
Hi Dario and Mario! I noticed the efforts you put in the Taxonavigation and just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for these contributions. Once the Taxonavigation covers a decent amount of taxa, it will be a crucial aspect of the wikispecies navigation. I hope for your support in the future, --Carl

New formatting
editWe are moving to a "flatter" formatting to allow more flexibility in the future. During this process things may look a little odd while we are in transition. Please see Kempm/Help:Contents rev1 for the new formatting. Thanks, Open2universe 13:10, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Some changes in section headings
editPlease use Vernacular names NOT Veracular Names.
Please use External links NOT External Links
Thanks, Open2universe 01:07, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
- Could you also use complete templates as in here? Thanks Lycaon 20:46, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks
editGood to have you back after a long time of low activity. I see you've rolled into the new formatting system quite smoothly! Keep up the good work. Lycaon 11:33, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Spaces in section headings
editPlease note the random spaces that are in the Synonym and Reference headings here. I corrected them but just thought you should know since it looks like a bug in a macro or program. --Georgeryp 16:42, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

editCongratulations, you are now an admin. Use the buttons wisely. Lycaon 19:38, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
100,000
editThe 100,000 article mark is just around the corner. Please consider stating your preference for a celebration logo on this page. Additional logo proposals are also very welcome. Thanks. Lycaon 09:03, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Multiple users using a single account
editHi, I was told to provide my outside opinion on this. I really think having two people using a single account is a bad idea. It creates lots of problems such as copyright complications. As it stands, you both are accountable for each others mistakes.
I believe this is the only example of a shared account with admin/sysop rights. You could have two accounts, User:Dario and User:Mario.
Anyways, this was a completely unofficial comment from an outside party.
Proposed changes
editWould you please give some feedback at wikispecies:Village Pump#Proposed changes from Henk_K? Thanks --Open2universe 23:55, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
main page title
editI'm administrator in gl:wiki. Shouldn't be better to hide the "Main page" text to get better use of space. In addition, I think it would happyfy the main page as suggested by Jeepday and IP in main page talk (I have posted the same message there). I'm trying to perform it in gl:wiki but I still don't know. I've asked in Meta. Do you know how? If yes or not, we can share how to do it. Tenham vocês boa saúde. Sobreira 15:29, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Hi, could you please put that page in the standard format. I'm not exactly sure what the standard format ;). Thanks. Monobi 16:05, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Author and Year categories
editHi there, Thanks for all your work. However I would ask that you not create more categories for author and year. I am against having these categories. I think they add a level of complexity of maintenance that we don't need. I ask you not to continue unless you can get a consensus from others that this is indeed what they want. There was some initial discussion at Wikispecies:Village_Pump#Proposed_changes_from_Henk_K which did not include support for these categories. There are other items in that discussion that should probably be revisited, but that it for another day. Cheers. --Open2universe 22:45, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

User da
editHi Dario and Mario,
Thank you for your welcome message. I am having a problem with {{User da}}
on the Babel box on my user page. Do you know who I should contact to have this template created? -- Slaunger 01:23, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you, that was fast! However, why is my user page now also associated with
{{User da-M}}
(?) although I have not indicated this language level. And why does the{{Babel}}
template on my user page display that I do not know any language?? Sorry to distract from the real work at Wikispecies. -- Slaunger 01:43, 15 December 2007 (UTC)- Oh, and one last thing. I noticed the letters "da" in the new template are smaller than for the other languages, which looks a little ackward. -- Slaunger 01:46, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Modelo pedido
editThanks for welcoming me to wikispecies. It would be really really helpful if some of the citation templates from en.wikipedia could be enabled here. There are a lot of them there and it is a large task, in my opinion. The cite web template would be the most useful to me, but due to the nature (in English, that might almost be a pun, by the way) of the content here, cite journal and cite book might also be useful. Again, thanks. -- CarolSpears 20:14, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- I was thinking about this -- I can move the templates myself I think. -- CarolSpears 19:12, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Classification is never provided
editHi,
It is a desperate call that I make here. Wikispecies is doing wrong, many french admin think so, and I can't let it happen without reacting. I already posted something here, without success.
Wikispecies has for purpose to provide the classification of taxons, right?
But each taxon has a different content and parents depending on the classification. And there are a lot of classifications for each taxons.:
- Here is a small list of those classifications.
- Here is an perfect sample that shows that a taxon name doesn't mean much if you don't provide the classification name.
- commons:Category:Liliopsida Here is a sample that commons now provides the classification. And of course, there are classical classification and phylogenetic classifications.
- From what I understand in reading your articles, wikispecies provides only one classification for each taxon (in wikifrance, we provide 1 classical and 1 phylogenetical classif per taxon)
- But you never provide the classification followed.
I think it is urgent that you provide the classification followed by each article in the article. You will discover that all your articles follow different classification.
Look at Liliopsida. It is a total shame. The classification is not provided. The reason is that nobody ever described it that way.

Main page in Asturian language
editHi, Im --Astur 13:52, 3 January 2008 (UTC); I'm an administrator in the Asturian Wikipedia (verify: Astur); I've translated the main page to our language ( see Páxina principal). Can you add the following sentence in the Template:Languages?
[[Páxina principal|Asturianu]] |
(at the moment I've put in our main page the template:Languages-ast, to allow the navigation in other languages). I would also like if you can change the link "Portada" actually http://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Portada to http://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Páxina_principal (first set in "my preferences" language "ast- asturianu"). Thank you very much --Astur 13:52, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Need your Italian expertise
editI need your expertise on Italian to determine what someone wrote on their userpage (see Wikispecies:Village Pump#Anyone know Italian?) OhanaUnitedTalk page 01:17, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
Can you also add my RfA&B there too, plz? Maxim(talk) 21:20, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- But where are we placing you, Maxim, under? RfA or RfB? OhanaUnitedTalk page 22:33, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Dunno. RfA, probably, with a note that's it's an RfB at the same time..? :-) Maxim(talk) 22:44, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. :-) Maxim(talk) 01:20, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
BlueCaper Says Hi
editThank you for informing me! My same account is on Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia, but my pages in Commons only have links to my fuller Wikipedia account. So, if you need to send a message to me, I will see it more likely on my Wikipedia page. Click on the link to go there, then add a message (please). Once again, thanks! Oops! I just realized I'm editing your user page; sorry. BlueCaper 19:17, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
URGENT PROBLEM
editMy continued ability to contribute to Wikispecies depends crucially on being able to protect just one page, called 'New Zealand', which is a faunistic page with links to (unprotected) pages on New Zealand taxa. My "friend" Lycaon keeps unprotecting it! I believe that such faunistic pages are well within the spirit and ideology of Wikispecies, and perhaps a new category ought to be created to accommodate them. However, I need to protect my New Zealand page for the following reasons:
(1) in line with the Wikispecies philosophy, I am contributing this information for free, and there are potential conflicts of interest with other people/institutions here in N.Z. who are trying to extract as much funding as possible for similar projects;
(2) if the page is open edit, it could very easily deteriorate into chaos, as what is needed is a single consistent view on the fauna. The classification isn't totally "objective", so other people may try to impose their own conflicting opinions and the result could be chaotic.
Can the beauracrats please have a vote on this? Regrettably, if I cannot protect this one single page, I will have to leave Wikispecies...
Stho002 21:19, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
PS: Other editors can still create their own versions of my 'New Zealand' page, expressing their own opinions, and they can give the pages disambiguated names, e.g. New Zealand, and link them to the appropriate taxa pages independently of me. Hence I am not trying to prevent alternative opinions, I am just trying to prevent alternative opinions from making my page into an unusable mess of conflicting opinions.

Request for comment
editThere is presently a discussion on the use of daggers to denote extinct taxa. This will affect a large portion of the pages in wikispecies as the project grows so if possible please read the contributions so far and comment. Thanks --Kevmin 07:02, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Your admin status
editHello. I'm a steward. A new policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc.) was adopted by community consensus recently. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing administrators' activity on wikis with no inactivity policy.
You meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for 2 years) on specieswiki, where you are a bureaucrat and administrator. Since specieswiki does not have its own administrators' rights review process, the global one applies.
If you want to keep your rights, you should inform the community of the wiki about the fact that the stewards have sent you this information about your inactivity. If the community has a discussion about it and then wants you to keep your rights, please contact the stewards at m:Stewards' noticeboard, and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish to continue to maintain the rights, and demonstrate a continued requirement to maintain these rights.
We stewards will evaluate the responses. If there is no response at all after approximately one month, we will proceed to remove your administrative rights. In cases of doubt, we will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review. If you have any questions, please contact us on m:Stewards' noticeboard.
Best regards, Rschen7754 17:52, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
Autopatrolled rights
editDear Mário e Dário, You have been granted autopatrolled user rights, which may be granted to experienced Wikispecies users who have demonstrated an understanding of Wikispecies policies and guidelines. In addition to what registered users can do, autopatrollers can have one's own edits automatically marked as patrolled (autopatrol). The autopatrol user right is intended to reduce the workload of new page patrollers and causes pages created by autopatrolled users to be automatically marked as patrolled. For more information, read Wikispecies:Autopatrollers.
This user has autopatrolled rights on Wikispecies. (verify) |
You may as autpatroller use the autopatroller user box on your user page. Copy and paste the following code on your user page:

editHi
I am writing on behalf of Wikiversity Journal of Medicine, an open access, peer reviewed medical journal, with no publication charges. You can find more about it by reading the article on The Signpost featuring this journal. Recently there has been a proposal to define a separate sister project for journals under Wikimedia and to move the pages under journal.wikimedia.org
similar to the case of WikiSpecies. You have been one of the early contributors to Wikispecies. Could you please guide me as to what is to be done for the same?
Seeking your cooperation. Diptanshu.D (talk) 14:11, 18 August 2016 (UTC)
