Welcome to Wikispecies! edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! -- Estopedist1 (talk) 08:19, 7 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Disputed taxa edit

Hello. WS has a problem with disputed taxa. such as Alsodeiopsis chippii, because we can not take sides and so this leaves us with two taxon pages for a single entity! I have made a start, but ideally A. rubra and A. villosa need their own pages, but it will do for now. If you have additional information I will be pleased to read it. All the best Andyboorman (talk) 08:31, 18 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I don't have any further information. I had just accepted the Kew POWO checklist. I'll fix up A rubra & A. villosa. Regards Ds2320 (talk) 22:42, 18 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please do not list articles on the journal pages edit

It is not actually useful and the same information is just as easily obtainable through the search function anyway. The empty "publication" sections were a single user's initiative and should not have been added to these pages in the first place. Circeus (talk) 19:11, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ok will stop adding. Thanks Ds2320 (talk) 19:59, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

I agree with @Circeus:could you please get rid of your addition of ==Publications== from the WS Tools set. If you wish to make such fundamental changes to WS it is accepted practice to pass them through the Pump for discussion and possible vote first. Thanks. Andyboorman (talk) 20:04, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I don't think Ds2320 added =={{int:Publications}}== to the WS Tools set? I thought it was there for Author pages anyway. Monster Iestyn (talk) 20:22, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Not sure it links back here. Andyboorman (talk) 20:39, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

In fairness to myself, I noticed that a number of journals etc. had a publications section. I assumed it was standard practice to link them. Now I'm aware its not will revert and will do future reversion when I come across them. Personally, can't see the harm in having publications linked to articles, for cross-referencing purposes, but will follow the consensus... Ds2320 (talk) 20:50, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

I apologize for coming as too negative. I haven't been nearly as proactive as I ought to be in removing them from journals I watch. There was a brief discussion when the mass addition of these sections was made (I don't remember who did it), but I don't think a concerted effort was made to then remove them. Link not working edit

Adding {{Just}} to Acanthella (Melastomataceae) does not work. Do you know why? Clue check out the links in the Reference Section. Best regards Andyboorman (talk) 20:45, 22 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Got it, added the extra fields and it now works. Will watch out for these going forward. Thanks Ds2320 (talk) 21:59, 22 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
