Vernacular names ≠ scientific names

edit

Thank you for your edits. However, please note that "vernacular names" is a term equivalent to "names in native tongue". It is not the same as "name of page in Wikipedia". As an example, the Ukrainian vernacular name for "cat" is not "Felis catus", it is "кіт сві́йський". This is important to consider when adding vernacular names to taxon pages at Wikispecies. For instance, when you added vernacular names to Apis mellifera caucasica you stated that Apis mellifera caucasica is the Spanish and Portuguese vernacular name for that bee. This is incorrect: it is the scientific name, not the vernacular name. The correct Spanish name for Apis mellifera caucasica is "abeja del Cáucaso", and the Portuguese one is "abelha-caucasiana". Please take this matter into consideration in future edits. Thank you. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 13:09, 15 March 2017 (UTC).Reply
