Welcome to Wikispecies!

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! Dan Koehl (talk) 23:42, 6 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions. I am a little concerned that your Inter-Wiki link to Wikipedia-Fr, which contains the rotating image, is a difficult precedent. If we made links this big to all different language Wikis, then each page would get overwhelmed with links. Many pages here have a link to the appropriate category on Wikimedia Commons using the {{commonscat}} syntax. This then sits as a single line at the bottom of the page. Could you reduce your InterWiki link to something more like the Commons one, so that it is less obtrusive? Thanks, Alan Cassidy, Admin. Accassidy (talk) 22:00, 7 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Please do not use the template {{Wikipédia}} to link to the English wikipedia. This isn't our standard way of linking to other wikis. Instead please use [[en:xxxxxxx]], [[fr:xxxxxx]] etc. Thank you.
Also please do not create french pages for authors. Apart from the main page, Wikispecies is written in English only. Mariusm (talk) 06:04, 15 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dear Bastenbas, I noticed that you are, after making 168 edits on Wikispecies, some of which the community after discussions have deleted, now use ABW on Wikispecies?

I have a couple of questions: 1. Do you have rights to use ABW on any other Wikimedia project, 2. Are you of the opinion that you have rights to use AWB on Wikispecies, 3. what are your intentions with the use of ABW on Wikispecies, and 4. have you discussed this with the community? Please give links to appropriate discussions. Dan Koehl (talk) 12:32, 10 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
