Welcome to Wikispecies!

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! Dan Koehl (talk) 06:18, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

Sign please :-)Edit

Thank you for your valuable edits, but as Dan did above, I would again like to remind you to please sign your messages on talk pages by ending them with four tildes, like this: ~~~~
That will automatically add your user name and a timestamp to your messages, which makes it easier for other users to follow the discussion and address your comments in a proper way. Please note that signing is normally done on talk/discussion pages only, not on conjointly written Wikispecies articles regarding species, genera, etc. Best regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk) 23:38, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

I would, but I don't know how.

To sign your messages you simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your edit. This help text about signing messages can subserve. The tilde sign is found on different keys on a keyboard, depending on which operating system and language version of keyboard you have. This table should help you find the tilde on your particular keyboard, but if you don't find it you can use the signature button   in the default edit toolbar as a typing aid.
