- Holotype: AMNH 168757/IEBR A. 0860, adult ♂, collected by Raoul H. Bain, Nguyen Quang Truong, Lu A Cho & Trieu Tai Vuong on 10 September 2004.
- Type locality: “Vietnam, Lao Cai Province, Van Ban District, Nam Tha Commune, above the Nam Tha river in disturbed, submontane semi-evergreen forest near 21°54′56″ N, 104°21′39″ E, between 1300–1400 m elevation”.
