Type locality: Lake Mweru and Luapula River, at Kasenga, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Etymology: The specific epithet unicolor is the Latin word unicolor (= of one color), derived from the Medieval Latin word color (= color; pigment; shade), using the Late Latin prefix uni-, derived from the Latin word unus (= one; alone, a single, sole), a reference to the entire dark brown coloration of the species.
