Name

edit

Lectotype: ZMB 18191. Paralectotypes: ZMB 18192 (8).

Type locality: Lake Malawi [Lake Nyasa], near (Alt-)Langenburg [Lumbi(l/r)a], Tanzania.[1]

Etymology: The species epithet njassae is from the type location of the species. The word Njassa comes of the language of the Yao people, for 'great water'. Lake Malawi was called 'Njassasee' [Lake Nyassa] by European colonial rulers, and is still the name of the lake in Tanzania and Mozambique.
