Name

• Synodontis melanostictus Boulenger, 1906

Holotype: BMNH 1906.9.8.72.

Type locality: Lofu, Lake Tanganyika.

Etymology: From the Greek melano, meaning black, and the Greek stiktos, meaning punctured or spotted, in reference to the black spotted pattern of the species.
