Holotype: MRAC 168400. Paratypes: MRAC 168401-410 (10), 165349-353 (5), 168411 (1), 83398-400 (3).
Type locality: Democratic Republic of Congo, Katanga, lac de Koni, Lufira.[1]
Etymology: The species is named after Lufira, an area in the Katanga province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where its types where found. Lac de Koni is part of the Lufira River drainage, also is Lake Lufira (now Lake Tshanga Lele).
