Holotype: SNHM. Paratypes: BMNH 1969.1.7.17 (1); SNHM (orig. 12).
Type locality: Sudan, Khartoum, Blue Nile, 2 miles from junction of Blue Nile and White Nile to form the main Nile.
Etymology: The species is named after the city of Khartoum, where it was found close by in the Blue Nile.
