Holotype: MRAC 14231. Paratypes: BMNH 1943.7.27.422 (1); MRAC 6865 (1), 14117 (1), 33516-17 (2), 165754-55 (2).
Type locality: Democratic Republic of Congo, Lukonzolwa, Lake Moero [Lake Mweru].
Etymology: The species is named after the Katanga province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where its types where found.
