Lectotype: BMNH 1901.12.28.60. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1912.4.1.134-135 (1), 1912.4.1.136 (1), 1912.4.1.137 (1); NMW 44743 (1).
Type locality: Gambia. Nianimaru.
Etymology: Species name annectens from Latin annectens, meaning linking or joining, because the author find this species intermediate between S. sorex and S. clarias.
