Lectotype: BMNH 1899.9.6.9. Paralectotype: BMNH 1891.12.29.12 (1). Lectotype designated by Poll 1971: 252.

Type locality: Kinshasa, Stanley Pool, upper Congo River, near Brazzaville, Zaire [Democratic Republic of Congo].

Etymology: Species name alberti after King Albert I. from Belgium (1875-1934).
