Name

Suhpalacsa Lefebvre, 1842 7

Type species: Ascalaphus flavipes Leach, 1814 48, by subsequent designation.

Gender: masculine (Note: Several later authors have treated the genus as feminine. The genus has no grammatical gender from either its word-origin nor was originally specified, hence such cases ending in -a can lead to the conclusion that the gender is feminine. However, the gender can be interpreted as masculine from "its combination with one or more adjectival species-group names of the originally included nominal species" (ICZN 30.2.3).
