Sternarchorhynchus cramptoni de Santana & Vari, 2010: 288.

Holotype: INPA 28376. [Paratypes: MCP 41637, (1); MCP 41638, (1); FMNH 115489, (3); FMNH 115488, (4); FMNH 115490, (7)].

Type locality: Brazil. Amazonas: Rio Solimões, downstream from mouth of Río Purus (3° 27′ 27″ S, 60° 45′ 26″ W).

Etymology: The species name cramptoni is in recognition of the many contributions of William Crampton, University of Central Florida.
