- Holotype: FMNH 215054 (field tag RFI 49331), adult ♀, collected by American herpetologist Robert F. Inger (1920–2019), in February 1953.
- Type locality: near the Gunung Emas [Gunung Alab] Telekom tower, ca. 5.83° N, 116.34° E, ca. 1950 m a.s.l., Crocker Range National Park, Tambunan District, Sabah State, Malaysia.
- Paratype: USNM 130244, adult ♀, “Bundu Tuhan, Mount Kina Balu, Ranau District, Sabah”, ca. 6.05° N, 116.53° E, 1370 m a.s.l., Malaysia, collected by American mammalogist David H. Johnson (1912–1996), on 1 August 1951.
