Type locality: Abu Zanima [1], Egypt, Gulf of Suez, Red Sea.

Etymology: The specific epithet refers to the type locality, Suez (As Suwais, Egypt), and the restricted original distribution area in the Gulf of Suez, northern Red Sea.
